Part of living an active lifestyle means that from time to time you are going to wake up with aches and pains. To take it even further, if you are participating in an activity that puts you in a position of possible injury, there is a high probability of sustaining a minor sprain/strain (that you can work through) or possibly a more serious injury that sidelines you. Whatever the case may be...taking care of yourself is essential for you to continue doing what you love.
Many of us wait until something happens before we pay attention to things. It is far better to prepare your body for the possibility of sustaining and injury than to have to make it up as you go. This is the purpose of this section. I rather you be educated on what to do, than to go through your training and recovery ignorant like so many do. Don't be the "norm"...take responsibility for YOUR BODY - you are with it 24-7 and nobody knows your body better than you - NOBODY!!!
This is a continuous forum for answering peoples questions regarding anything that has to do with performance care. The goal is to educate healthy active people who would like to get more out of their bodies and recover quicker from the demands they place on their body."Doc WOD's" are intended to be used as a supplement to your regular Training WOD's. They are not to be used to diagnose, treat, or substitute for any prior treatment plan given by a health care provider. Please seek medical attention for any condition that you are dealing with. If you have any questions, concerns or suggestions, please feel free to contact me at anytime either by e-mail or phone. (See Contact Us)
(WOD = Work Out of The Day))
Here is a short dynamic warm up that Coach Lamarr and I worked on. The idea is to keep moving. Each movement is specific and distinct. The purpose is to increase functional range of motion which will in turn help to increase performance output as well as reduce the risk of injury. You are not to spend a lot of time with each movement, but the time you do spend should be specific and to the point. No "country clubbing" it - do them with a purpose.
Feel free to contact Lamarr at CFNLP or myself if you have any questions regarding these movements.
Good Luck & Enjoy
